MY 3 LIFE LESSONS FROM THE STORY OF MOSES

1) A PRIVILEGED CHILDHOOD DOES NOT GUARANTEE A GOOD LIFE

Imagine being raised as prince/princess of the greatest kingdom on earth. Imagine knowing that your father answers to NO ONE and everybody bows down to him. Imagine having access to all the servants to cater to all your needs, all your whims. Imagine that you never have to worry about money, about bills, or the cost of something you want. That sounds like a good life right?

Moses grew up in such an environment. Never having to worry about anything. At the time, if you told him that he would spend 80 years in the desert until he died, he would have laughed at your face or worse still had you arrested for speaking such nonsense! And yet he did spend 80 years in the desert!

We should learn that nothing is every guaranteed in life. That you can be at the very top one day, and the next day you will be at the bottom. We should learn to embrace every opportunity and yet be humble in the knowledge that, nothing is guaranteed in life. Do not take anything for granted, be APPRECIATIVE of what you have, be HUMBLE in all you do, and STAY GROUNDED for it can disappear FAST!

2) WE LEARN OUR GREATEST LESSONS WHEN LIFE IS HARDEST

Moses is known as the leader who led Israelites out of captivity in Egypt. Moses led them through the desert for forty (40) years and overcame a myriad of challenges both from the desert and also from the people themselves, before finally getting close to the promised land.

If there is anything that challenges the human spirit, a man’s will to live, is a journey through the desert. For forty years, he led them day in day out. The ONE thing that helped him be good in the desert, be a good leader for his people, and be the best suited person to help the Israelites on their journey through the desert, was the fact that HE HAD SPENT 40 years in the desert.

You see Moses fled the palace life and was in the desert for 40 years before the burning bush and the calling from God. It was that experience that helped him understand the terrain, understand survival tactics, understand when to move fast, when to set up camp, what food is good in the desert, what is poisonous, how to deal with cuts, what quenches thirst, all the knowledge that was needed to survive in the desert he learnt during his DARKEST time.

When life is tough, when nothing seems to be working, when our dreams seem like nightmares, when we do not know what to do next, when we want to give up, when all your limits have been tested, at that time YOU ARE LEARNING YOUR GREATEST LESSONS. Embrace those lessons for you do not know when you will need them next in your life.
3) ALL EXPERIENCES GOOD OR BAD EVENTUALLY WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GREATER GOOD

The great leader that Moses was, is as a result of all his life experiences that came together to build him to the leader he turned out to be. Life in the palace exposed him to the best education, education that he used in understanding the needs of his people through their journey. Life in the desert made him tough, made him bold, built his character, built his resilience, sharpened his survival tactics. His life in the palace and his life in the desert all came together to help him be the great leader he turned out to be.

We need to EMBRACE all our life experiences, for you will never know which experience or life lesson we will draw upon in order for us to move to the next step. Whether good or bad, all experiences work together for our greater good.

GOD BLESS
Bwana Morioz
