3 REASONS WHY YOU SOMETIMES NEED TO LOOK BACK

I know for most of us, looking back brings out a lot of negative emotions, a lot of pain, a lot of hurt, and memories we would not like to relive again. Sometimes we are held captive by our past, and that has led us to believing that we should never look back, otherwise if we do, we will never grow or move forward.

There however some benefits to looking back, benefits that actually make your journey forward a little bit easier.

1) LOOKING BACK HELPS BOOST YOUR SELF ESTEEM:

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me”.

We get so engrossed in tackling life challenges, breaking down barriers, fighting oppression, fighting for our rights and get so involved in the daily grind, that we make huge steps and strides in life, but we never even realize that we make those steps. We never give ourselves a ‘pat on our backs’ for the things we have accomplished. LOOK BACK MOTIVATION

It is good to look back and appreciate, that you have fought those battles, you have overcome those challenges, and because you have been able to make it thus far, you get STRENGTH to tackle whatever tomorrow brings. Looking back at what you have gone through, and what you have overcome, boosts you so much, helps grow your self esteem, helps grow your self belief, and makes you a better warrior for the challenges that are coming up ahead.

2) LOOKING BACK HELPS YOU TO REMAIN FOCUSED

“The true measure of success is how many times you can bounce back from failure.” ― Stephen Richards

The one thing that motivates the very rich in our society, is their backgrounds. Having experienced what it means to be poor, having experienced what lacking is, drives them to achieve a lot more. Those who have come from broken homes, work hard to ensure their kids do not experience that. Those who have experienced abusive fathers, abusive partners, work hard to make sure other vulnerable people do not go through the same.STAY FOCUSED

You see you need to look back, at regain that driving force that led you to be who you are. Do not let your success blind you into not seeing how cruel life can be, if you do not put your extra effort. Do not be so comfortable in life, that you forget the bite that is poverty, broken relationships, lack of career growth, lack of spirituality, LOOK BACK and remember that, just like that, the things you have achieved can vanish just like that, and you are back to square ONE!

3) LOOKING BACK HELPS YOU HELP OTHERS

Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s problems, and so fulfill the law of Christ”

Whenever a person is in distress, and they need someone to talk to, the one person who gets through to them is that person who has gone through what they are going through. If you have ever been a victim of something (abuse, alcohol, rape, poverty etc) you are best placed to help another victim, for you understand what they are going through, and you know what it takes to overcome that pain.

HELP OTHERS SUCCEEDDo not let your life experiences, your struggles, your life lessons be FOR NOTHING. Go ahead help somebody out, reach out to your community, churches and other social places and help someone out. LOOK BACK at your life, see what you can teach someone out there, see how you can comfort someone with, see how you can help those who lack in society. Most of us think that we can only help, only through giving in money, but what I am telling you is this, the greatest wealth you have, are the experiences and memories that have made you be the success that you are.

So do not be afraid, look back, draw out the positive things in your past, and use those things, to be a better person to those who are in contact with you!

God Bless You All

  1. If you look back at your past with the perspective of an OVERCOMER, you will not only learn from it to BETTER your future but you will draw STRENGTH from it to help you tackle the challenges you are currently facing. Thank you for that encouraging message!
