AFRICA FASHION WEEK RETURNS TO LOS ANGELES FOR FALL 2014

After a successful second season, Africa Fashion Week is returning to Los Angeles with a few new updates. As of January, we officially changed our company name from AFWLA, LLC. to Continent Creative, LLC. The name change is due to significant expansion of our business activities, which now include: PR, Fashion Show Production, Creative Direction, Image Consulting, E-Commerce, and Special Events. At the same time, we are also expanding our annual fashion week to include artists as well as designers. It will now be titled Africa Fashion & Art Week.
Africa Fashion and Art Week is scheduled to take place this fall at Papillion Art, from October 1st – 4th.  Over the course of four days, the production will include an art show featuring work from Kenturah Davis, a pop-up shop, networking parties, and runway shows from world-renowned international designers. Any designers interested in showcasing at Africa Fashion & Art Week 2014, please emailregistration@africafashionandartweek.com for details and an application.
In past years, we have found that many talented designers have encountered challenges in attempts to present their collections at Fashion Week due to difficulty raising funds to travel to Los Angeles. Thus, the “African Designer Fund Project” was born. This project featured on GoFundMe will raise funds for international designers to help alleviate those financial burdens involved with traveling abroad. The fund will run from June to August, and we envision raising enough money to sponsor at least 3 elite designers to showcase during LA Fashion Week. If you are interested in our cause please donate now at gofundme.com/africandesignerfund
To help highlight and promote our cause, we have teamed up with photographers, Bukunmi Grace & Jesse Leon to create our 2014 campaign, titled, “La Reine Noire ‘ – The African Queen. The Continent Creative team has put together Warhol inspired images featuring model Joy Green and Face of Africa Fashion and Art Week contest winners Lilian Uwanyuze and Jasmine Suzette.
